1. Myth or Fact #1 The best time to visit Washington,
DC is during Cherry Blossom season, usually in April. |
| Myth!!!! Though the Cherry Blossoms are absolutely beautiful,
that's the busiest time of year in DC - which means long lines,
higher hotel prices and lots of waiting. If you want the
best deals and the shortest lines, come in July or August,
November, December, January or February. |

2.Myth or Fact #2 You can
wait until you get to DC before you get your tickets to the White House. |
Myth!!! Contact your congressperson as far out as possible
(six months is ideal) to get your VIP tickets. If you wait until you
get here, you can still get a tour, you may just have to wait
in a very long line.

3. Myth or Fact #3
You
don't need a car to see everything in DC. |
| Fact!!! Washington's public transportation system - Metro -covers
most of Washington DC. It is very clean (don't litter or
you'll pay a $25 fine) and easy to use. |

4. Myth or Fact #4 If you
want to use DC's public transportation - the Metro - you have to stay
downtown. |
| Myth!!! Most DC suburban hotels (Arlington or Alexandria
for example) are either close to a metro stop, or provide shuttle
service back and forth from the hotel to the nearest metro
station. |

5. Myth or Fact #5 You
can do some great shopping at the National Mall. |
| Both myth and fact! The National Mall is not a typical shopping
mall - that is where many of the Smithsonian Museums are
located, as well as the Washington Monument - however, there
are several shops on the Mall so you can make some fun purchases
too. |

6. Myth or Fact #6 J Street is filled with beautiful shops and restaurants. |
